Company Portrait

I make my knives as a fulltime Knifemaker in my “one man workshop” in our house in Marktl am Inn, Bavaria, Germany. I have had no formal professional learning in knifemaking, although the experience gained in my profession as a mechanic and the study of mechanical engineering at the Oskar von Miller Polytechnic Institute in Munich has given me the best preparation and allows me to meet the technical challenges I encounter.

I have learned knifemaking myself. In conversations with friends such as Ron Lake and Bob Loveless as well as many other members of the ' American Knifemaker's Guild' at Guild shows in the USA I was able to expand my knowledge about knifemaking.

Should a great deal of material removal be necessary such as in the making of a fully integral knife, I submit a drawing to a professional milling machine worker and he makes the raw blank to my specification.

I feel that this is justified since the knife doesn't get any better if I do the preparation personally. In addition this method allows reduction of costs for the customer because I don't have to maintain an expensive 'machine park' at home.
I furnish the inlays on "Interframe" folding knives myself on my panograph milling machine DECKEL build in 1954. With this machine I also do small milling works. An adventurous and sobering experience full of surprises!

My knives are all of my design. Although I do some designs together with customers so that the knife is totally in accord with their wishes.

I personally hand finish all the leather sheaths myself, using top grain saddle leather.

I sell my knives on commission, at the internet and sometimes I attend knife shows.

Delivery time for a Becker Knife is presently 6 months. I try to keep some of the knives shown here in stock, so that in some cases I can fill an order in less time.
